The higher Physical Education course is assessed through two components: performance and a written exam.

The course enables candidates to demonstrate and develop a broad and comprehensive range of complex skills in challenging contexts in physical activities. Candidates demonstrate initiative, decision making and problem solving by engaging in physical activities.

The Advanced Higher Physical Education course enables learners to research and critically evaluate factors which underpin and impact on performance, and use this knowledge to develop their own high-level performance and/or the performance of others.
