BMW N47 is a four-cylinder common rail diesel engine that has many improvements over its predecessor, the M47. In 2014 it was replaced with the B47.

How do I know if my BMW has a DPF?

You can find the exhaust pipe between silencer and catalytic converter. In some car models, you will find DPF situated in the catalytic converter. You can check it by running your finger around the inside of the pipe. If it is relatively clean then you can assume that your car has DPF.

When did BMW n47t engine change to B47?

Someone mentioned about 2014 update, version n47 or n47t changed to B47 at 03/2014. PS. ( But the true is that nothing wrong was with these engines N47, the problem was BMW oil change intervals with 20k miles because of marketing, it was just to big time intervals that wat cause chain issues)

Are there any recalls on the BMW N47?

Nevertheless, the N47, while not recalled, has had updated camshaft (timing) chains fitted in later years (you can see this on the realoem.com website). It’s kind of a crap shoot IMO: M47 with bad swirl flaps that blow up the engine, or N47 with bad chain that blows the engine.

Is the M47 engine in a BMW E90?

Now from 2006-2007 the E90 had the M47 engine that didnt have this problem. It did have some issues with the turbine but it is still much cheaper to fix. I can either get the e90 without the facelift, not an ugly car, but almost 10 years old, less engine problems around the same fuel intake, horsepower is not really an issue.
